Hampton Boys Basketball Team Makes History with State Playoff Berth

Hampton, GA — The Hampton High School boys basketball team has made a historic leap, earning a spot in the state playoffs for just the second time in 13 years. Under the leadership of head coach Marcus Taylor, the Hornets not only reached the postseason but also shattered the school record for single-season wins.

Coach Taylor’s squad earned praise throughout the year for playing with relentless energy, effort, attitude, and passion—hallmarks of the program’s new identity. The Hornets’ hard work didn’t go unnoticed, with standout senior Richard Azu earning 3rd Team All-Region honors. Junior Duck Richards and sophomores C.J. Geiger and Asa Parker were also recognized with All-Region Honorable Mentions.

With 80% of the roster expected to return next season, Hampton is already being seen as a team to watch. Coach Taylor and his players are poised to make an even deeper run in the playoffs in 2026.
